Should I change my career?

Hi everyone, I am 40 years old and want to change my career.
My questions are about how many programs do I need to learn before applying to a job? Can I learn only app development and then start to look for a job? because every program may take me over 3 months to complete it. Thank you.

im gonna be blunt here cuz this subject is highly asked all the time, being 40 years old means nothing mate you can be 10 or 70 doesn’t matter, what matters is if you willing to stick with it? and trust me if your serious about this it will take more than 3 months, but anyone can do it, dont let anyone tell you otherwise

I can’t give you any personal advice about what you should do about your career. If you want to learn to code, freeCodeCamp is an excellent place to start. What concerns me is that you mention that programs take at least 3 months to complete. Programming is a highly skilled job. I’m sure that there are people who absolutely throw themselves into learning it with incredible discipline and that with a lot of work and a lot of luck might be able to find a company willing to take a chance on them after only a few months of study. That’s going to be an extremely rare case though.

It depends on whether you want to change your career or just work on your idea while doing your current job. It is definitely possible to start your career with app development- a working application is a must to show to your potential employer.

However, app development also consists of backend stuff i.e. database and apis. If you are already working with these stuff then I’m sure you can demand a decent salary.
