Welcome to freeCodeCamp's forum

Hello, I am some guy on the internet.

I’m learning to code because speaking to computers is an important and marketable skill, and I like money.

I’ve been learning mainly on FreeCodeCamp and some Codecademy, also from Learn Python The Hard Way. Also reading a lot of programmer blogs for the human side of things. Communication and interpersonal skills are key.

This is a good exercise to get you to use the forum. Doing is a good form of learning.

Hi! I am Ben Loper. I am learning how to code because I want to eventually make it my full-time career.
I have found that coding and creating programs completely fascinates me. I have been bouncing around with careers since I graduated high school. A couple years ago, I decided to go back to college for IT. I loved working with computers and learning how to code. I started working as an IT Tester about a year ago and I really enjoy it. However, I want to eventually work as a web developer. I love the idea of the freedom I can have when I learn to develop.
I tried many different learning platforms. I eventually stumbled upon freeCodeCamp. The reason I decided to go full force with freeCodeCamp is the ability to help non-profits. Having that real world experience is invaluable to say the least. But that is not my only motivation for completing the curriculum. I have always wanted to find a way to give back to communities. I do like volunteering and helping. To help build websites for non-profits would give me more satisfaction than learning how to code for the sake of coding.
I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Hey everyone!

I’m Kate from Australia. I have a little experience with HTML & CSS, and javascript buuuuut was learning them along time ago so I feel like a complete newbie. I work in a school in the technology classroom where we are teaching the kids how to code through MIT’s Scratch program, python and HTML/CSS. I love problem solving and a challenge, and hope to learn the skills to be able to completely change my career and have fun along the way.

Cheers!

Hi Campers,

Hi!!! My name is Hector, and I’m learning code, because I think it’s both interesting and amazing that you can make something from nothing. My experience with coding is zero and I’ve actually learned a substantial amount with both the class and by asking for help and other student and teachers helping; granted, some of them don’t help but are a little rude. All in all my experience has been an amazing one thus far, and hope to learn enough to get a job in coding and make enough money to donate some of salary into this program and seek out other programs to enrich my knowledge and further my education.

My name is Mr-Benjamin

Im starting to learn code in the hope of getting a developer position. I recall using dos to open space invaders as a kid So I dont think should have any trouble learning. Though I have found some barriers so far… I am getting the gist of things however If I we’re to go away from fcc I dont know how successful I would be developing something straight away. Downloaded sublime and haven’t a clue how to make my work show up in chrome so really just getting to grips with the code lessons currently and I am certain FCC is developed in such a way that Ill understand these things in good time.
Anyone identify with my thoughts?

Hello, my name is Naval Monga. I am 19 years old and currently attend University of Maryland, College Park. I am pursuing a computer science degree.
I am learning to code along with my classes to strengthen my programming skills and learn the newest technologies used in the industry. I would like to enter the software development world early and learn the basics at an early age.
I have been learning basic skills through an object oriented course I took in my freshman year. In addition, I have completed a portion of a web development and iOS development course on udemy. I believe freeCodeCamp is unique because you are given the opportunity to work with non-profit organizations. A good programmer does not only study conceptual material but to build and perfect side projects. I am excited to start this career oriented endeavor.
