Hey everyone,
I’m a self-taught developer with 1.5 years of experience (no CS degree). I’ve worked on small freelancing projects using Python (web scraping, automation, AI/ML), React/Next.js, and basic JavaScript. I’m not into frontend, and I haven’t explored cloud tech yet.
Looking for advice on:
- Gaining credibility without professional experience
- Which tech stack to focus on (e.g., Python, Go)
- Career path options: backend, cloud, or DevOps?
Thanks in advance!

- What’s your age ? I’m 44 now, if I had to re-start my career again from 22, I would prefer to work on AI, Robotics projects
Checkout JD from xAI, OpenAI, Figure AI etc. There are tons of startups in AI, humanoid field with loads of funding, it will make sure you will employed for 2 - 3 decades more

Hello!
You can combine cloud and DevOps. This combination is highly sought after. I wouldn’t jump into DevOps right away, it takes experience to be effective. Start as a cloud admin, engineer, or even cloud support tech. Best go multi-cloud, in Germany almost 90% of companies are using this strategy, it won’t be much different in the rest of the world.
Starting with AWS SysOps Administrator/ Azure Administrator Associate → AWS/ Azure DevOps Expert (after gaining some experience) could be a possible route.
To echo the first post: Since more potent AIs will need advanced (cloud-) infrastructures and people looking after them, you’ll be employed for some time as well.

Hey Vikram,
Thanks for replying.
I’m 23 years old. I did try learning AI/ML, but it’s too hard and will take time.
And also, I’m not super smart for all the maths and logic required for AI.
My goal is get a job ASAP. But since I have the options to choose which tech stack to use, I want to go with which offers highest package (at least as a fresher) and easy to get.
Also I don’t have any CS degree and also no prior professional experience, which will be hard to explain in a interview.
My current tech stack is python, React, NextJS. I didn’t do much of frontend (like no CSS).
No, what do you think?
Can you tell me how to get started with DevOps?
I have no prior experience with Cloud.
Also I checked some job descriptions for DevOps role. All of them are asking for at the least some years of experience in the same field.
And my only experience is in freelancing, like full-stack web app development, web-scrapping with python, React and NextJS.
This is totally wrong approach to start your career sigh
1st 5 years of your career just concentrate on gaining as much technical and business skills as possible.
Tell me if you get 1 Cr INR package in India, what will you do with that much of money, remember money is NOT equal to happiness ?

Hey again, then you have dev(elopment)-side of DevOps covered, leaves the ops (operations):
DevOps is not entry-level. You need some deep understanding of the modern development cycle to build efficient automations for your team. You will also deal with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) like Terraform and container orchestration like Kubernetes, which can be difficult beasts.
I would suggest to work in a pure operations role first for some ops experience. To sum up my first post: Learn multi-cloud (AWS/Azure) associate skills, work as a cloud admin/engineer/support tech while getting AWS/Azure DevOps certified.
This is the way if you really want to go into cloud computing and DevOps, as it can be quite the task that needs commitment.
