What does beta mean?

Hi there,
I’ve just joined this forum. Nice to e-meet you all! I wondered what this meant: ‘‘This certification is currently in ‘‘beta.’’ Please consider donating to support the completion of its development.’’

Does it mean I have to pay a certain amount of $$ every month to get the certification? Thanks for your input.

freeCodeCamp is free. The course being in beta means its still being updated and changed as we improve it.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. Best.

Courses marked as “Beta” are still getting frequent updates. They’ll probably have a significantly higher bug rate, may have lessons changed and reordered, and generally just be less stable than the older courses. In the case of the English for Developers course, it isn’t complete yet (so it doesn’t have a certificate). This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try them, just that you should be aware that they’re a little “quirky” sometimes.

Hi. Thanks so much for enlightening me. Yes, that’s right, I saw some quirky parts in the EN course. Thanks. Best.

then what about js dsa beta

‘beta’ means the same thing for that course too.

no freecodecamp is a free platform.
