I’m very new to coding and I wondered if someone could explain why there is this element in this code? (when I type it in here it disappears for some reason! it is in the title of my post) As to my understanding, this is for the anchor element, and there is no opening tag for it either
When I did this step that wasn’t in there, could it be you copied a line from somewhere that had that in?
Otherwise yes, it would the closing part

When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.
You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (').
