It looks like I will land my first developer job very soon, which will also be my first ‘real’ full-time job ever. I’m very excited about the company and the people. The position is exactly what I was looking for (and also something that is hard to find) and even the location is perfect.
Later this week I will have my second interview and I’m freaking nervous. If I get this job, I will be like a dream come true. When I was 13 years old I started with webdesign (HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), but about 9 years ago I completely stopped. I did not believe in myself and being enrolled in university I also couldn’t find the time to continue web development.
Everything changed around the time my country got into corona lockdown. I always felt an immense pressure to do as much as possible every day and not once I thought about what I really wanted with my life. The lockdown forced me to ‘slow down’ and to my own surprise this made me rediscover my passion for web design and development.
In about 8 months time I learned so many things including Figma, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, responsive design, JavaScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB and D3. I build a personal portfolio website and some other projects: websites, web apps and a full-stack API. About 3 weeks ago I started looking for jobs, and now I’m here. Still, I can’t believe that I might have a development job by the end of this week.
In this topic I want to share my journey. I hope it will inspire others.
