Hello anyone who might see this,
One year ago I started my first development job. My background is in Education, and I had no prior experience in coding. Everything I learned was through Free Code Camp, Youtube videos and figuring out how to build projects prior to interviews. I worked a full time job, was teaching jiu jitsu, on top of spending 6-8 hours a night learning the basics of Front-End and Back-End design.
If you are like me and can’t afford to go back to school and have to work to get by, I believe in you. It is so much more of a difficult route, but if you put in the time and effort you can break in to this field. Fill out as many resumes as you can, and when it comes time for interviews build new small projects as similar as possible to the stack the company uses. If you are versed in soft skills, lean in to it.
This whole process will be a great deal of work, and if you don’t quit, I know you will be able to accomplish your goals.
Lastly, thank you Free Code Camp for this great resource, it has truly changed my life.
Believe in Yourself,
K.
