How do i fix this? AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'keys'

AttributeError: ‘NoneType’ object has no attribute ‘keys’

its telling me this part is wrong on the console???

if "responding" not in db.keys():
    db["responding"] = True

Right now, all I can tell is that it has something to do with python.
