How does a webdeveloper work?

Hello all!

Im just very curious how a web-developer work.

If a “customer” reaches out, and wants you to make a website for them, how does the process work? Do they provide the domain, and give you the “access” to the domain?

Do they pay you one price to make the site, and a monthly fee to update it? Since the “customer” don´t code, I guess they just contact you with changes and updates?

Thanks for the reply!

So you have to make this control-panel for them? As a software?
I got me woundering how this actually work.

Im pretty new to coding. Only been doing it a couple of months. Most because my band needed a webpage, and Squarespace cost to much, but I got very interested in learning. So I´ve bought books. seen hours-and-hours of videos, and bought an online-course. Im very into this!

But I got curious about how to do I if somebody ask me, when Im ready, to build a website for them. Do I need to be a software-engineer to do this…?!

Are you interested specifically in freelancing? The majority of web developers work a typical 9-5 for an employer.

it’s cool that you got into this to setup a site for your band. How’d that go btw?

You actually don’t have to be a software-engineer to make websites or to make web-sites for people who ask you to do it. You just need to be able to organize your time, manage the customer’s expectations and be able to deliver on promised work. Basically what any contractor does for eg when building/renovating a house.

I think freelancing would be the way to go for me, since Im already working as a plumber

It’s going allright. It’s up and running, but still under development, of course, and regularly trying to improve it, without overdoing it
