How to Prepare for the AZ 305 Certification and Build Cloud Expertise

I’m planning to take the Microsoft AZ-305 certification (Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions) and would love to get some insights from those who’ve already gone through it. I’ve completed AZ-104 and have a basic understanding of Azure services, but the AZ-305 seems to focus more on designing and architecting cloud solutions, which feels like a big jump.

I’m particularly looking for advice on:

  1. Recommended learning paths or resources (Microsoft Learn, online courses, books, etc.)

  2. How to strengthen architecture and design skills beyond just memorizing Azure features

  3. Best way to practice, should I set up a full Azure sandbox or use case studies/mock scenarios?

  4. Timeframe, roughly how long did it take you to prepare?

Also, if anyone has tips on how to connect real-world cloud experience with exam objectives, that would be really helpful. My goal isn’t just to pass the exam, but to genuinely improve my cloud solution design skills and be confident in building secure, scalable Azure architectures.

Looking forward to hearing your prep strategies, recommended resources, and any pitfalls to avoid!
