I try using the email method and it creates a whole new account for me despite the same email address being associated with github. my github linked account will not work at all with the new FCC. the learn section is permanently signed out when i use that account.
Did you reply to the email that says “If you are having any issues with your account, please don’t hesitate to contact us by replying to this email”?
Public and Private toggle button in Privacy settings section on Settings page are not working. Please look into this matter. My profile is private and i want to make it public.
Bugs should always be reported as GitHub Issues. Whenever reporting a bug, please check first that there isn’t already an issue for it and provide as much detail as possible.
I tried this too as @Arronk recommended and had the same experience. Instead of logging me into same account associated with GitHub a new account was created.
I can’t get out of this infinite loop

I uploaded a video on youtube showing my exact steps and also posted the video in a separate thread here on the FCC forums. which may help. Did you log in first using the broken github option to at least get the landing page showing your progress? I don’t know if doing this first and then entering your email associates the two.
EDIT: at at 1.6.18 this has been fixed and you no longer need to follow the steps in this video
I think we’ve now fixed this bug. Go to https://learn.freecodecamp.org again and let us know whether it now works. You may have to log in one more time.
I’m in! Thanks Quincy and the FCC team for fixing this bug!!!
I just tested it and everything now appears to be working fine using the alternative account logins, thanks
Yup Ive been going through the same thing. And now im having challenge count problems as the website still thinks im on
“Define the Head and Body of An Html Document” When im not.
Currently, I am in the CSS section - “Basic CSS - Size Your Images” .
The website is not keeping up with my progress for some odd reason.
Also, can we please do something with the blaring white background.
its hard to be infront of the 30 inch LCD monitor with a blaring white background for periods of time…
starts to hurt the eyes and get headaches.
thanks
One thing I forgot to mention, even though I try to be on https://www.learn.freecodecamp.org
the site keeps changing it to the normal website https://www.freecodecamp.org
and at times in the middle of challenges, it jumps to and from the Learn to the normal.
and when going to profile.
something is making the website jump in and out of sub-domains for no reason.

The URL for the curriculum is https://learn.freecodecamp.org (no www). It’s on a separate subdomain, which is great for a number of reasons, but has caused a few authentication headaches that we had to sort out
@QuincyLarson the bug is definitely not fixed on my end. I’m logging on at the appropriate url, and have “hard refreshed” my browser as other threads have suggested doing. I’ve tried “associating” my email with my account again after the first time, and it correctly suggests my email is already associated with an account, though my username and profile data don’t at all reflect my past profile information before the changes. Also, I’ve checked my browsing history extensively and have never been on any “beta” version of FCC as other threads suggested. I still show zero challenges completed when I had 300+ finished and was just a few challenges away from the front end certificate. I always logged in via GitHub until now, and I’m excited for the new changes, I just hope I haven’t lost my countless hours of work. I know I can just do the required challenges, but it was very useful to reference past work, and my mind is just not comfortable with the missing progress.
@jacoblapenna It sounds as though when you logged into learn.freecodecamp.org with your email, a new account was created instead of adding your email address to your existing account. That doesn’t mean your old account is gone, it just means that you are not logging in as that account. There isn’t a way for users to merge two accounts, so the only way for your old account (with your username and progress) to be merged with the new account created via your email address is for Quincy to go in and manually make changes. You will need to email team@freecodecamp.org with the account details. Please be patient with that process. Quincy is only one man and he is dealing with thousands of emails right now.
@ArielLeslie Thanks! Email sent. Commencing patience…
Thank you. I know this is frustrating right now.
Thanks your feedback helped to resolve this issue for me.
Hi, this is still happening. I can log in, change my settings, etc.
However, the moment I click ‘curriculum’ and change to the “https://learn.freecodecamp.org/” page I am automatically logged out.
Can log back in with a click of the button ‘sign in’. I try ‘curriculum’ again, and auto log out again.
My settings or PC have not changed when this happened. It’s as if access was turned off.
I am wondering how others have gotten over this.
