I can totally understand if freeCodeCamp doesn’t want to deal with an influx of low value PRs, though some of the rule changes since last year seem to have greatly reduced the spam.
There have been significant rule changes for the good, yes. But if you join the hacktoberfest discord, you’ll find quite a fewfamiliar freecodecamp faces.
freeCodeCamp decided to not advertise it after last couple of years not going that well, like the year of thousands of invalid PRs. It took months, almost a year, for GitHub moderators to deal with it.
That’s absolutely fair. I can only imagine the torrent of spam FCC has received. I hope the new rules, such as only accepted PRs counting and the ability to block someone for multiple offences, help push bad actors out of the event.
