Is it possible if I can develop a very complex software, clean code, tests, debug, architecture and through that obtain a contract software developer job

If I develop a very complex software, test, debug, clean code, documentation, architecture, showcase this on GitHub

If it takes a year or develop two complex software in two years.

Showcase on GitHub, do a LinkedIn profile outlining the skills I learnt and put my LinkedIn profile to seeking contract work

Is it possible through this I can obtain a contract software developer job?

it is possible, but no one is able to garantee that it will happen

Are you say this is a way to become a contract software developer?

In the way I described? That it’s entirely possible

I can’t say “It’s impossible” but I also can’t say “You will sure manage! In X years you will do it!”.

contract work means you are self employed, and that means you need to meet people, find clients, market yourself, find available work, and be the one they choose. It’s hard.

Hi @StephenX

Take a look at some of the profiles and repos on GitHub. There are a lot of talented people out there. To gain work though, you need to connect with people. Otherwise you are just operating in a silo.

If you dedicate your time only to software development, then in a year or two when you launch your product, not many people will know about it or get to see it. It’s like putting all your eggs in one basket.

To gain work you need to develop both hard and soft skills. Ask family and friends if you can build something they can use. Document your way of doing things, why you made certain decisions, the challenges you faced, how you overcame them, and the skills and experience you gained.

Or, try and solve a real world business problem for a specific niche in the market.

Share your journey on social media, like LinkedIn and X, so you can grow an audience and followers for launch day.

Happy coding
