Contract work rarely shows up on the big job boards, which is why it feels invisible. A few places it actually lives:
Staffing agencies that specialize in tech contracts (Robert Half, TEKsystems, Hays, depending on your region). They place a lot of 6 to 12 month backend roles and they are always hungry for Python people.
LinkedIn, but not the jobs tab. Set your profile to open to contract work and make sure Python, MySQL and REST APIs are in your headline. Most contract gigs come through recruiters searching profiles, not through postings.
Smaller consultancies and dev shops. They often need overflow help on client projects and almost never advertise it. A short direct email with what you can do works better than you would expect.
Past coworkers and managers. A big share of contract work is never advertised at all, it goes to someone the team already knows.
Two years of full stack experience is enough for contracts. The market is just slow right now, so it takes more outreach than it should. Good luck.
Are there contract work out there but they are just looking at LinkedIn profiles and these individuals who offer contract work will give them to people who only come to these networking events? It’s all behind the scenes stuff
