when in make the code as:

and then #menu { background-corlor: burlywood; } to make the background color of the div elements of 300px width brlywood color. When i submit the code it is constantly saying that #menu selector should have burlywood background. what should be the exactly code?

Menu is the name of a class not an id.
So to select it, you should use a period and not a #.

I suggest you reset the step and reread and try again.
