Hi @julietalphanancyecho

Restore the template literals around the span tags.
Then remove the white space after the opening and before the closing span tags.

Happy coding

the template literals are there. i already removed the white space. but didn’t work.

Please show your updated code.

output.innerHTML = <span class="${surplusOrDeficit.toLowerCase()}"> ${Math.abs(remainingCalories)} Calorie ${surplusOrDeficit}</span>;

Hi @julietalphanancyecho
When I copied and pasted your code, I found a space after the opening span tag.

20m
output.innerHTML = <span class="${surplusOrDeficit.toLowerCase()}"> ${Math.abs(remainingCalories)} Calorie ${surplusOrDeficit}</span>;

output.innerHTML =<span class="${surplusOrDeficit.toLowerCase()}"> ${Math.abs(remainingCalories)} Calorie ${surplusOrDeficit}</span>;
