So, I posted a forum post just before, and I went back to continue my journey through HTML5 and CSS. I go onto the Map page, and all the checks on completed items are gone. I checked my profile and it said I had only completed 1 item today, even though I know it is upwards of 42. After quickly going through the ones I have already completed with Ctrl+Enter (because my previous answers were already entered,) my profile now shows the correct amount of items completed, but it is stating that I completed them on the 8th (on the chart), while on the calendar it shows that I completed them on the 7th.
Note: Before all of this, it did show that I had completed everything on the 7th, on the chart of “Challenges/Completed/Last Updated/Solution,” that is.
I’m just trying to figure out whether this is normal, or if I’m doing something wrong here. I would like to be able to keep track of what I have done, and what I haven’t done so far.
There are two different types of progress being saved going on at Free Code Camp: your profile and your browser cache.
Your completed challenges are all saved to your account in the FCC database. You can see the list of completed challenges and also the last submitted solutions by looking at your profile page.
If your profile does not include your completed challenges, here is my troubleshooting advice:
- Double check that you used the same method to sign in. Try logging out and back in again with the original method.
- Double check that you aren’t on the beta site now and that you didn’t create your original account on the beta site by accident. (Yes, this does happen.)
- Contact team@freecodecamp.com . The most likely scenario is that your account got duplicated when you signed in and you are being logged into the new one. When that happens, someone on the team can merge your accounts. Please be patient when emailing the team. Remember that there are thousands of campers, a small team, and this is all volunteer-driven.
Your progress tracking (map) is saved in your browser’s local storage. In-progress code is also saved in your local browser cache. If you are changing browsers or clearing your cache regularly you’ll have to use freecodecamp.com/map to navigate to your next challenge. Especially as you get to more complicated challenges that may take multiple sessions, I strongly recommend saving your in-progress work outside of the browser cache. This is a good opportunity to learn the ins and outs of your GitHub account, but you can also just save locally or use a service like repl.it which allows for versioning.

Alright lets see here haha:
-
How do I check if I am on the beta website or not? (I don’t believe I am)
-
I didn’t sign up using GitHub, but instead I created a new account through here, just as I did for the forums.
-
I never changed my browser, I always use Waterfox, nor did I ever clear my cache today.
- I never got off of here at all, just using several tabs at once (one with the lessons up, one with the forums, and one with my profile) I only noticed this after making my first forum post and returning back to the lessons.
- The beta site is beta.freecodecamp.com
- Did you check your profile? Does it show your completed challenges?
I don’t see a profile with the name “Entropy”, so I’m assuming that you used a different username.
Nope I didn’t use the beta site, I’m definitely on the right one.
Everything is fine now, but I just don’t want it to happen again (disregarding the date, as I’m assuming it’s just some conflict of time zones.)
Also… when I signed up, I was never given the option to put in a Username, just my email and password for the account. My profile name seems to be fcc9d282c48
When I look at your profile, it looks like all the challenges are here. I googled Waterfox and it looks like it has features to prevent tracking, which probably prevents the local cache from functioning normally.
If you want to set your username, I think that creating a GitHub account and linking it to your FCC then your GitHub username will be applied to your FCC account.

Out of curiosity, how are you looking at my profile and is that something that is mod-only?
Also thank you for the help, I’ll probably create the GitHub account for this.
Your profile is freecodecamp.com/[your username].
For example, mine is https://www.freecodecamp.com/arielleslie
You can get to your own profile by clicking on your brownie points in the top right-hand corner on freecodecamp.com.
I don’t have magic mod powers anywhere but here and the subreddit.
