Profile Lookup tests won't pass

Hi
I tested my code manually with all the test parameters and they pass but the challenge won’ t let me pass. I can’t figure out what to do. Thank you in advance

   **Your code so far**
function lookUpProfile(name, prop) {

  // Only change code below this line

for (var i=0; i<contacts.length; i++) {

  if ( contacts[i]["firstName"] === name) {

    if (contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {

      return contacts[i][prop];

    } else {

      return "No such property."

   }

  }

}

 return "No such contact."

}

const contacts = [
 {
   firstName: "Akira",
   lastName: "Laine",
   number: "0543236543",
   likes: ["Pizza", "Coding", "Brownie Points"],
 },
 {
   firstName: "Harry",
   lastName: "Potter",
   number: "0994372684",
   likes: ["Hogwarts", "Magic", "Hagrid"],
 },
 {
   firstName: "Sherlock",
   lastName: "Holmes",
   number: "0487345643",
   likes: ["Intriguing Cases", "Violin"],
 },
 {
   firstName: "Kristian",
   lastName: "Vos",
   number: "unknown",
   likes: ["JavaScript", "Gaming", "Foxes"],
 },
];

function lookUpProfile(name, prop) {
 // Only change code below this line
for (var i=0; i<contacts.length; i++) {
 if ( contacts[i]["firstName"] === name) {
   if (contacts[i].hasOwnProperty(prop)) {
     return contacts[i][prop];
   } else {
     return "No such property."
  }
 }
}
return "No such contact."
}

console.log(lookUpProfile("Kristian", "lastName"));

Challenge: Profile Lookup

I’ve edited your post for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

See this post to find the backtick on your keyboard.
Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (’).

Hi @fawnWMD !

Your issue is here

and here

You added something extra both times and it needs to be removed.

If it helps to see the issue you can take a close look at one of the test cases.
lookUpProfile("Bob", "number") should return the string No such contact

Pay close attention here at the end
No such contact

Also, it looks like you have the lookupProfile function twice but maybe that was just because of a formatting issue when you posted to the forum.

Hope that helps!

Hey jwilkins
I followed your advice and everything worked. I thought the period at the end was required, so thanks a million :slight_smile:
