Quotes at each step

So I’m doing “Learn HTML with Cat Photo App”. After checking everystep correctly there is a quote below the page. What are the references of those codes? I got curious and wrote some of them to google but couldn’t find the answer I looking form.

For example after step 45 “You did it!”. A very general response so I don’t think I can find the reference for this sentence.

On the other after 46 “Thundercats, hoo” is easy one. I wrote the google and answers directly pop up. How can i find the references for those general sentences you can come upon many place like I wrote above for step 45?

I know this is not a serious topic but still I got curious about them so I wanted to ask.

Hi @bozkus802 !

I dug around in the page’s code and found an array containing all of the quotes. Here it is in case you’re interested:

The JSON file is here:

There are also translated versions in the locales folder.

If you want to trace it, lower-jaw.tsx calls randomCompliment from get-words.ts and it gets the JSON file from the locales folder depending on the clientLocale

Welcome to the forum @bozkus802

They are pop culture references to movies, story books, cartoons, video games, et cetera.

  • "Down the rabbit hole we go!" - Alice in Wonderland
  • "Feel that need for speed!" - Days of Thunder
  • "To infinity and beyond!" - Toy Story
  • "Power level? It’s over 9000!" - Dragon Ball Z
  • "Flawless victory!" - Mortal Kombat (video game)
  • "To the Batmobile!" - Batman (television series from the 1960s)
  • "You’re a wizard, Harry!" - Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

The quotes are randomly selected, so you many see them several times.

Happy coding

Oh thank you for all the answers. Seeing references to shows you watched after doing the steps becomes an extra motivation for me. I don’t know who thought that but my thanks to him.
