Hi, I’m a blind screen reader user learning how to code using a combination of both JAWS and NVDA for Windows. Along with my screen reader I use a braille display in order to understand the code and read it tactially. For me, this makes sense for my brain to see how the code is laid out. It’s equivalent to sighted developers seeing the code on the screen and interpret it. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that within the interactive code editor. The screen reader just reads the first character of a line within the editor. On the braille display I have to go character by character. This in turn breaks the flow of reading and understanding the cocde. It doesn’t matter if the console, or showing /hiding the preview window is activated or not. Nothing seems to help the problem at all. This happens on Google Chrome with JAWS and on Firefox running NVDA. It also happens on Safari with VoiceOver on the Mac platform as well. If you would like a video demonstration of the problem, I’d be more than willing to send a sample video over.
