I’d like to here some of your thoughts on custom cursors on websites so I can get an Idea of how much custom I should add into my custom cursor for my site.

That’s a nice thought you can consider! But what is your brand, we would like to know about it first! Your website design resembles the brand which you are serving. There are many digital marketing and IT related websites having round cursor with a hover effect. It is a good thing that enhances the creativity.
For example: An animated cursor is recommended when choosing a playful or colorful theme. And if the website is more professional or corporate oriented then choose a subtle or elegant cusrsor.

It’s actually for my personal portfolio project im making for FCC. The notes you’ve provided are pretty helpful. Especially for how I should make my cursor look.

The cursor is perfect. But to add more creativity, shape it as magnifying glass. So, it will show that users want to do in-depth research on particular information. Rest decision is yours.
