Hello!

My name is Clare, I’m from London, and have mostly worked in book and magazine publishing; at Booksellers, a b2b magazine, a couple of large publishers. As an illustrator, book designer and production editor.

At first, I wanted to learn HTML to make small improvements to the website at work, but I think I’ve gone down a rabbit hole! This is my second day, doing this, so I’m pretty new to it, but the possibilities are so exciting!

I’ve been using a couple of different online learning sites - this one, and Codeacademy. It’s been useful to revisit information from a slightly different perspective.

Here’s to the first step in a long journey!

Clare

Hello. I’m Mike and I’m a coder. (Oh, this isn’t the 12 step chat room. Oops…)

I’ve been a software developer for decades and now I’m looking to get into web development so I’m here and also studying Java and VB.net. It was easy in the past. You only needed a language or two and you were set. Now it looks like you need to pick up a new skill every week. It’s daunting, but I’m doing it.

Take care,
Mike

I am Max Dempsey.

Heya everyone!

My name is Aaron. I am 20 years old and live in Wolverhampton, England.

I’m learning to code because I didn’t know what to do next regarding work/university and thought I’d try out this skill that I had heard about a few months before and thought it might be something I’d be interested in/enjoy. My thinking was I’ve got nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain by trying out/learning a very hot skill that I might enjoy. (Which I am so far!)

So far I’ve been learning to code mainly through the Udemy course ‘Web Development’ created by Colt Steele. Which has been great so far! However recently I have also started using FreeCodeCamp.com to supplement the course with some more actual coding practice and experience!

I look foward to interacting and being more involved in this forum and community.

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I’m Steve.

I worked in field service for 15 years. I then moved into PC networking, earning my Novell Netware CNE certification in 1994. I’ve been at my current employer for 21 years.

I have used the LAMP stack in the past and have coded in PHP & MySQL. I spend my time these days supporting one commercial system which is ASP.NET & MSSQL based.

I’ve always enjoyed coding, but it has never been my primary role, so I have never become as proficient as I would like.

I am ready for a change. I’m interested in deepening my programming skills and would like to eventually transition to a programming/developer job.

Hey there!

Hey, I’m Nick, an aspiring social entrepreneur from Arkansas, USA.

I’m learning to code, because I want to build websites that will serve as platforms for different social enterprise and micro enterprise ventures that I hope to start within 5 years.

FCC (so far) has taught me the basics of HTML5 and Bootstrap. I feel like I’m catching on quickly, and I am enjoying the challenge of learning something completely new!
