R is a very popular data science language, which is used to easily generate plots, among other possible applications. R is even used for web development of statistical plots in some cases https://shiny.rstudio.com/
We just rolled out data science with Python, so I don’t expect we will be adding data science with R anytime soon.
For what its worth, I wouldn’t go out of your way to learn R unless you must. Given the broader usefulness and use of Python, I’d highly recommend using Python unless you are dealing with legacy code. There really isn’t anything R can do that Python can’t.
