Hi @oliverjroe !
Here are my general thoughts on your resume.
My overall impression is that it is to long.
I think this can be cut down to 1 page.
Remember that hiring managers, and others involved in the hiring process will only initially spend 5-7 seconds looking at your resume before deciding to learn more or just moving on.
I remember when I was in grad school where I saw in real time an assistant to the dean of admissions sit down with a stack of resumes. She picked up one read it for a few seconds then put it down. She did that for all of the resumes. At the end, there were two piles, a very small pile and a large one.
She then walked the small pile over to her boss (dean of admissions) to look at. And what happened to the rest? They were recycled.
For your work section, I would suggest cutting that down to just 3 bullet points that emphasize how your work for clients helped their business.
As for your section on HyperionDev, unfortunately this doesn’t really stand out to me.
I think it would be better to replace that with a project you built that took months to build and have some complexity.
As for the links at the top, I would only include links that highlight your abilities really well.
For your HyperionDev portfolio, I think you should remove that. I don’t think that will help you stand out. If you are going to have a portfolio or personal site it should showcase more of you and interest projects you have been involved with.
For your codepen, I would remove that link. Those projects are great for learning but not when applying for a job. If you codepen had more involved projects or intricate css art or something like that, then that would be impressive to showcase. Otherwise, it doesn’t add to your resume.
As for your GitHub, it unfortunately looks to bare. Some will care about green squares and GitHub activity while other might not. But if that is going to be on your resume, there needs to be something for people to interact with and learn more about you and your skills.
Lastly your LinkedIn profile needs updating.
People tend to have the love hate relationship with Linkedin, but there are tons of recuiters and hiring managers that do hang out on there.
I would suggest going through Danny Thompson’s Linkedin course
He provides tons of great tips on how to optimize your profile. And at this stage of the job process you need to utilize every single tool available to you to open up to as many opportunities as possible.
Also, a big thing I saw missing from your profile are reviews. If you have been working with clients, you need to showcase reviews on your profile. Having other people praise your work goes a long way with potential employers.
Hope all of that helps
