Disabling donating message

Is there a way to disable the message prompting to donating for freecodecamp?

The only way that I know to make it go away is to donate. There are some other threads on the forum about the exact conditions in which the donate message goes away.

freeCodeCamp is completely free and has no ads. Donations are how they gather sufficient money to deliver education to millions of people every month

And how about those who can’t donate?

Donation is completely optional. That’s why it’s a donation instead of a fee required to access the lessons.

If it is optional, why you can’t disable those messages that keep prompting annoyingly?

freeCodeCamp needs money. If we do not ask for donations, then we will not receive enough money to operate the website.

As you are a moderator, can you ask the devs of fcc to add “Never Ask Me Again” near that “Ask me later” or at least to make the message prompting only at the sign-in as to make people remember donating… , but not a message that keep prompting.

Donation is better given by love not by annoyance or blackmailing

If being asked occasionally to donate is a critical usability issue to you, you can file a bug report. Bugs can be reported as GitHub Issues. Whenever reporting a bug, please check first that there isn’t already an issue for it and provide as much detail as possible.

I think the team needs to relook at how the donation prompts surface themselves (permanent placeholder at the top of the page?) or maybe at the end of a module / upon completing something of enough significance for the person to feel like they’ve received something of value. I agree with bedward that the constant prompts do surface a feeling of annoyance more than one where I feel like I should support the website, mostly because it starts long before I feel any sense of accomplishment.

report it as a bug, then, please
the donation modal I think is set to appear at the end of a section as it is now

Thank you for helping make FCC better. Bugs can be reported as GitHub Issues. Whenever reporting a bug, please check first that there isn’t already an issue for it and provide as much detail as possible.

If you find that being asked to donate to help keep freeCodeCamp running interferes with your ability to use the platform, then the only thing to do is open a bug report.

I’m closing this topic as unproductive.
