HTML Basic Foundation

I’m so overwhelmed with the introduction since I don’t have any idea about html, and other links incorporated. I think it will consume more of time just to learn and understand the process of making my own website. I guess, it might be a year for me to finished the curriculum.

it will take the time you need

consider joining the Bad Website Club if you want a community to work through the curriculum with. The Club started last week so you can still catch up and work with them

I know this feeling :sad_but_relieved_face:

Its really hard at the start of learning because all you can see is what you dont know.
The Web is a VAST set of programs and hardware. I dont think anyone can say they know everything.
So keeping that in mind and ask yourself “What do I need to know right now?”

I often start a project before I know how to build it.
I’ll have an idea of what I want the end product to look like and as I learn I’ll add to it.

If you already have an idea of what you’d like to create, draw it out with pen and paper.
As you go through the course add labels to your design. `<h1></h1> <div></div>` etc.

Over time, even tho you’ve not actually built anything yet, you’ll see that its possible for you to build it, because you’ve already split it up.
When your more confident, start trying to actually build the project.
Start with the easiest bits and work your way through one element at a time.

Eventually you’ll create something you can be excited about. It shouldn’t be perfect since its your first attempt. But you should celebrate each time you create something you’ve never done before

ILM suggested a community, I strongly suggest you take a look at it. Learning in public by posting your project during development can really speed up your learning.
Posting something unfinished is great, because it gives people a chance to give you some feedback and helpful advice that could save you time later.

Note: You dont need to catch up with a community to join in. Just show up and take an interest, beginner friendly communities will let you jump in at any stage of a project.

FCC is self paced so there’s no rush and everyone’s learning path is different. Honestly, I started back in July of last year and technically I have not accomplished much at all compared to some who started working at amazon or google after like 9 months of learning. And that’s okay! My path is different because I am looking for something different. We are all doing different things.

I find those who start working at google and amazon before the first 2 years of learning tend to have other things going on. Usually they already had a head start from family members or dabbled in code long before they started seriously learning.
The job someone gets is also important. Management roles need different skills, some code helps but you dont need to know as much.

Most devs I’ve spoken to with jobs say you should actively learn for 2 years then look for a job. I think most of that 2 years is spent working on a project with a team.

Oh very interesting to hear! I have heard many many stories of people being ablt to do this but personally I am the type that would rather wait longer and build passion projects
