Ok, I’ve had a few of these issues now. I’m not computer smart (I’m trying to change that), so please bear with me.
I’m working through the Relational Database Certification. I keep running into the issue where my progress doesn’t get saved and I’m forced to redo the tutorial in its entirety. The most recent one being the Student Database Part 1. I was literally on the last step and for whatever reason it failed on me and wouldn’t accept that I had created the SQL file and looked at it. I’m back to square one.
I’ve followed the instructions on the lesson page to create the secret and everything. That part went fine (seemed to anyway), but unless I finish a tutorial in a single sitting (and the last time was a single sitting, so I’m not even sure I can complete them anymore) I’m not able to finish the tutorial and have to restart. It’s incredibly frustrating.
I would much rather set everything up through VSCodium and do it there, but I wasn’t able to figure that out either… I managed to get the extensions added to Codium, but I couldn’t get everything configured so it would work.
I’m using Firefox (whatever the latest version is, but I do have a handful of privacy extensions installed) and Windows 11 Home.
I would love help with both (making sure my online version keeps track and getting Codium set up to do the tutorials), but whatever help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I had the same issue where if I didn’t finish in one sitting, the progress did not save.
The workshops do not count towards sitting an exam, only the certification projects do.
If you really want the tick satisfaction, then pace yourself and, spread out the workshops so you don’t run out of free monthly credits. Each time I redid a workshop I got faster at doing it.
Here’s one thing you can try. If you reload a partially completed workshop, do the first step, then press the Run button for the next steps. Make sure you pause between pressing the button so the terminal keeps pace. Ten seconds between button presses should be enough. When you catch up to the last step you were only, keep typing or engaging with the terminal, as idleness for too many minutes may cause a timeout and disconnect you from the server.
Also, try reconnecting to the server anytime you run into an issue.
I wasn’t aware that there was a credit limit. Where can I find that info? I’ve been off for the last week, because my laptop died and I was waiting for the parts for a new computer to arrive. I have been faster doing it the second time, but it’s still annoying.
I think that’s the problem, I haven’t been able to reload any partially completed tutorials. Each time I need to break away from the computer for anything longer than an hour (I can’t give a specific time, but I’ve been able to keep working after having lunch), I have to restart the tutorial in it’s entirety. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong when I try and pick back up or if my account is messed up somehow.
By reconnecting to the server do you mean running Developer: Reload Window in Command Palette?
The error I had with the most recent workshop was a PID of 314. Both terminals I had open (at the recommendation of the tutorial, one for PostgreSQL and another for Bash) has the same fault.
