Need some advice

Hi Everyone

I just graduated and got my first real job and got fired after 3 weeks working.

I mainly focus on C# and so do my CV but i had an interview, they only asked basic questions and gave me an IQ test. I passed and work as a React.js developer, i had an Reactjs internship back then but was laid off shortly after.

In the first week, I learned the company rules and the JavaScript codebase. They assigned me a ticket to work on, which was about creating an admin page for the terms of use stored in Elasticsearch. It was tough, and I asked my mentor a lot of questions. I managed to finish it within the week, and although I made some mistakes, most of them were related to comments and coding conventions.

In the second and third weeks, the team leader said that my mentor was spending too much time training me. I felt that I was slowing my mentor down, so I tried to minimize my questions. I was assigned another ticket, which involved creating an admin page to manage the images for a mobile app, as well as designing the database. I did my best and managed to finish it by the deadline

They said I’m smart and hardworking, but quite passive, which doesn’t align with the company’s needs. I don’t if this is the reason they fired or i’m just that bad at coding. I was unemployed for almost a year before getting this job

I don’t know where I need to improve.

I’m feeling down right now, and I don’t know if I can still continue on this career path. My parents expect a lot from me, and I don’t want to let them down.

Sounds like a terrible employer to jettison someone after 3 weeks. No one on this forum is going to be able to tell you what their actual motivations were.

Do you have a GitHub account? Code examples?

It’s impossible to assess your skills without examples / context.
