Question about certificates in the Full Stack program

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you to the freeCodeCamp team for your great website. I’ve been learning with you for a few years now and have already completed the Python and HTML/CSS certificates.

I recently started the Full Stack course because I want to learn JavaScript. My question is: is it possible to also receive separate certificates for each programming language we complete? From what I see, it looks like I would need to finish all the other languages and then pass the final Full Stack exams in order to get one single certificate.

  1. If separate language certificates are not currently an option, would you consider adding this feature in the future?
  2. And if not, do you offer any alternatives for obtaining a JavaScript certificate specifically?

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards

The certificate will be for the whole Full Stack curriculum. freeCodeCamp has actually chosen to move from having smaller certificates for the different steps to one for the full course, so it’s unlikely to change back soon. Keep in mind that the certificates don’t really mean anything except to give you a sense of accomplishment. There isn’t any recognized standard. If you want to celebrate the phases of the course as you go through it, then feel free to make your own.

But often, when someone applies for a job, the requirements specifically mention knowledge of certain programming languages, for example Python. In such cases, it is very useful to have a certificate that shows the skills acquired, the number of hours completed, etc. Not everyone is necessarily aiming to become a full stack developer — some people just need programming skills in specific areas. That’s why I believe it would be very valuable to reconsider this decision, especially for people entering the job market, where certificates can play a crucial role.

Good morning FreeCodeCamp team,

I’ve been following the course and noticed new topics were recently added. My goal for now is to focus solely on Front End Development and earn the Front End Development certificate. Would it be okay to continue with just that path for the time being?

Thank you for the great platform and support.

you are not obligated to complete any part of the curriculum, feel free to complete the parts you are interested in and ignore the othere

Thanks for your response. once I complete all the Front End Development projects, will that unlock the certificate, or are there other requirements I should be aware of to earn it?

can you be more precise of what Front End Development you are asking about?

I’ve been working through the Certified Full Stack Developer curriculum and noticed that it currently includes HTML, CSS, and JavaScript projects and Front-End Libraries, which I assumed meant it was focused on Front End Development for now. Especially since the Back End section doesn’t have projects yet.

I just wanted to confirm, if I complete the available front end projects, will I be able to earn a Front End Development certificate. Thanks

At this time it is not possible to gain any certification in the Certified Full Stack Developer curriculum. One great addition in this curriculum, is exams, and they are not ready yet

I wasn’t aware of this, but I was wondering if you offer a dedicated Front End Development certification course? ….My goal is to focus on front end skills, as I’m currently a designer

at this time the only one available is https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/front-end-development-libraries/, but it is outdated, and even the testing is outdated there

for the full stack curriculum you will need to wait for future announcements

There’s no problem at all, this is one of the best online courses I’ve seen. For now, I’ll focus on the Front End Development Libraries course while I wait.

I suggest you don’t go to the old certification, it is quite outdated, focus on the content in the current full stack curriculum

I’ve completed the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript projects, but noticed new content was added recently. Since I’m unsure how long the full course will take, I’d like to earn a certificate for now, as many design roles require coding knowledge. Thanks

Just make sure you understand that the content in that certification is outdated, it teaches an old version of React, with features that are not used anymore, and the testing of the final projects is also quite finicky, and broken if you use a recent version of React

if you want a certification right now, Responsive Web Design and JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures work, and requires the 5 final projects only to be obtained

Thanks for the support and I’ll focus on Responsive Web Design and JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures for now.

I recently completed one of the certification (Responsive Web Design) programs and noticed that I only see options to share the certificate on platforms like LinkedIn, but not an option to download it as a PDF.

Could you kindly let me know if the PDF download feature is available, or if there’s a specific step, I need to complete to access it?

there isn’t such a feature

if you want to download it, you can view the certification when logged out and print to pdf using the browser feature

Thank you for your response. I’m able to view the certification and was attempting to save it as a PDF document on my computer.

so as I asked will it be possible to only get certificates for part of the program lanaguages such as python or Javascript in future ?
