Hello pls i need help, i’m stuck,

here is the prompt:
Call your function passing text and custom_key as the arguments. Store the return value of the function call in a variable called encryption.

here is my code:

text = 'Hello Zaira'
custom_key = 'python'

def vigenere(message, key):
    key_index = 0
    alphabet = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'
    encrypted_text = ''

    for char in message.lower():
    
        # Append space to the message
        if char == ' ':
            encrypted_text += char
        else:        
            # Find the right key character to encode
            key_char = key[key_index % len(key)]
            key_index += 1

            # Define the offset and the encrypted letter
            offset = alphabet.index(key_char)
            index = alphabet.find(char)
            new_index = (index + offset) % len(alphabet)

Your last line is indented to be part of the function. But you don’t want to call this function from within the function.

thanks for your help so far , i have however removed the indentation as you advised but i still get the same error message , please take a look again

I’ve edited your code for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

i have removed it completely, i still get the same error message .

you should not have a colon after the function call

you should remove ‘:’ on the last line of your code, apart from this, everything is correct
