False. I started my career doing fullstack development at a fortune 50 company.

False. As a senior fullstack developer, most of the job opportunities that come my way pay in the range of $150k-$200k.

I enjoy it and only interview for jobs where I will be supported in doing at least some full-stack work.

Some companies are shitty about micromanaging, but that doesn’t have any relation to the tech stack used by engineers.

There are pros and cons to working for a very small company and it comes down to personal preference.

I work for a multinational company. My team currently only will hire people who show the capacity and the interest in both frontend and backend development. Although some developers focus on a primary area of interest, comfort working throughout the application is a requirement.

Fullstack development has arisen largely from the convergence of server and client technologies. The projects I’ve worked on with a sharp division between frontend and backend roles have been old codebases with C++ or Java backends. Even on those teams, some of the most senior developers have worked both ends of the problem.

There is value in learning to do one thing well before trying to learn more things, but as long as you do have depth in one area it will never hurt you to have broader expertise.

Personally not finding fullstack development appealing is a perfectly valid personal preference. But since this is a career advice thread and you made several grossly inaccurate statements of fact, it seemed important to address them.
