Like the new upgrade, amazing work, and thank you all the hard work.
Congrats on the new release! I love the addition of more content and reordering the focus of the challenges and projects to represent what is most important in modern web development. I also appreciate that the UI is continuing to be worked on as it feels like a step back with a more cluttered layout and a less modern appearance.
My biggest concern is about the requirements for obtaining the certification. Does removing the challenges reduce the overall value of the certificate to an employer? Some people may now only do the bare minimum to quickly complete projects, leaving an employer unable to guarantee that they have the same background knowledge and exposure as someone else with the same certificate.
Is there any time estimate to complete the courses? i liked it on the old version of the tree.
I’m having issues with signing in. Even with the email confirmations it still shows up as not signed in. Bug issues maybe?
Yes I want to know this, also some of the projects have changed. Time helps to indicate if these challenges are becoming more or less difficult/advanced.
I’d suggest opening an issue here: https://github.com/freeCodeCamp/freeCodeCamp/issues, so that the contributors know what to improve
Thank you! Now I saw. I’m still a bit lost, but only temporarily. Thanks for listening.
I kind of agree. Making all of the really hard projects like roguelike, game of life, voting app, and pinterest clone not part of the certification seems to devalue it. Going through this course start to finish those were definitely proving grounds for me and felt like proof of ability instead of proof of concept. On the other hand I like the organization of the different concepts in the new program.
Congratulations!
I would be very happy if there was an option for the text editor to have a dark interface.
It’s much healthier and more aesthetic in my opinion.
Other than that I am very happy about all the improvements.
I agree it is very clutter and the graphics are bad. Why the change. I dont want to even go on with the lessons.
I thought I was really late to know about this ~ but happy to know I received the news just as fresh as everybody else
- THANK YOU to FreeCodeCamp! - I’ve really been waiting for this for months, and it’s finally here! :))
Perfect! Thanks so much for producing all this, I know that I and everyone else are super grateful
The new look is pretty difficult on mobile. I know the site isn’t meant to be used on one’s phone, but it worked really well. I made a lot of progress that way during my bus commutes. Now, I can’t even read the challenge easily.
I’m glad all the other improvements are happening, but this one change is impacting me personally the most.
The legacy projects are now in the Take Home Projects section. You can still see everything that you’ve done previously on your profile.
You will only need to check your email for a verification code when you use a different computer or clear out your browser cache and cookies.
The code that auto-loaded into the editor was always just stored in your browser cache and would be gone any time your browser was cleared, you used a different computer, or if there was a redesign like this. Once everything is working perfectly, you should be able to get to your previous solutions from your portfolio page.
Where did Map go? The new FCC says that I “have completed 230 of 1392 coding challenges,” but when I click on “Explore the Curriculum,” it looks like my work didn’t carry over since nothing is checked off in the HTML, CSS and JS sections that I completed before. This update is very confusing.
Admittedly, I’ve been quietly completing coding challenges here and there, and was not really visiting the FCC forums/community, but it’s alarming to see all of my progress gone with an update that I had no idea was coming.

Bugs should always be reported as GitHub Issues. Please take the time to check that the bug hasn’t already been reported. The more detail you’re able to provide, the better.
Agreed! I don’t understand how to debug my code without seeing the output…
