The challenges have been expanded and some of them have been moved around to be in a more logical progression. The ordering of challenges on the curriculum map is still the recommended order for doing things. Challenges that you have already completed should be marked with a check on the curriculum map and they will be listed on your portfolio.
In the curriculum list there are sections labeled as “Projects”. Each project section corresponds to one of the new certificates. Projects that were previously required, but no longer are, are in the Take Home Projects section.
They plan to do it. They just wanted to get the new curriculum changes out as soon as they were ready and then make smaller changes to improve the UI.
From what I’ve observed over the years, the FCC team really does care about optimizing for mobiles. We know that there are users that learn primarily on their phones or small devices and may not even have regular access to a computer with a large monitor. I’m hopeful that there is a design plan to address this issue.
All of your submitted solutions are still on your account. If the curriculum map is not showing any checkmarks, you may just need to do a hard refresh. You should be able to see everything that you’ve completed on your portfolio page and these same challenges should show up as done on the curriculum page.
Until this is fixed you can use the browser’s console (by using your browser’s devtools) or you can use a tool like repl.it.
Thank you @QuincyLarson and team for an amazing job!!
I’ve heard about FCC about a year back and still loving it the same, but with this new update, coding just keeps getting better and better!
I just started about a week ago, and finished 2 Legacy Front End Projects. It looks like my progress has been reset. I’ve noticed the curriculum has changed. Is it recommended to start again from the beginning?
Edit: Turns out I used the wrong email. It’s confusing since I used to login from Github, so I tried using my Github email, turns out I had a different account.
I’m not sure if i am looking at it incorrectly but I can’t find the “Map” button on the top right hand side or the points to check on my progress. Also every time I log in, it wants to start from the beginning it doesn’t save to my last point.
I saw some new parts in the past episodes, you added new challanges in the past episodes? i did not like the new style and map. Thanks anyway @QuincyLarson.
Major congratulations to you and the team on getting this out! I now have no more excuses to really get started. Again much thanks for all of you all’s hard work¡
I’m missing it, I now find it harder to continuously track where I am and challenges I’ve already completed…
I love FCC, it’s really helping me learn JS. However, this big change really threw me off.
Since your new curriculum added classes and cancelled classes and moved them around, I really can’t figure out where I was in my studies and where I’m supposed to continue…
I literally got caught up by your site upgrade as I was trying to submit a codepen challenge (Weather API) and now I can’t even find it anywhere… And this challenge took me a while. But this is just an example on how site navigation took a hit in your changes.
If you go to learn.freecodecamp.org, then the ‘Explore the curriculum’ button will show the map.
If you’re on any challenge, there’s a ‘View the Curriculum’ button right on top left, right below the logo. It will show the map.
The team already fast-tracked the UI improvement (https://github.com/freeCodeCamp/freeCodeCamp/issues/17313), but if there’s anything you guys think should be changed/improved, make sure you create an issue there so it can be tracked.
Hey,
First of all, thank you for your incredible job bringing the best learning environment to the community. Very much appreciated!
So far so good, I like the way you’ve put it together. The new curriculum explorer makes much more sense now, it is just more intuitive and complete, it’s great to see the direction this project is going to.
I still want back the solution history in my profile for completed challenges, it’s really useful. The curriculum is buggy, sometimes I use it to check my progress just a white blank page shows up.
