Brand new with no experience

Hello all! My name is Travis and I’m brand new to this community. Plus, essentially brand new to programming. I downloaded an application called Mimo on my phone which is one of the top applications to learn Python and that’s what I have started with. Is that a good place to start? Are there certifications for Python on free code camp? Should I start with c instead or c+? I really have no idea what I’m doing as I have no development experience whatsoever but I have been fascinated with ethical hacking and coding for a very long time even though I have no idea what I’m looking at. But I’m very eager to learn and I have time on my hands to do so. I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to read this, and I look forward to being a part of this community. Very best you all!

Welcome to the forum @Havoko777

There is a Python certificate on freeCodeCamp which is an introductory course. Then there are other ones which delve further into the capabilities of Python.

Spent some time researching the various pathways available in web development. It will really depend on what you want to achieve. Once you learn one programming language it will become much easier to learn another one as they have many similarities.

Happy coding

Welcome to the forum!

If you decide to go into ethical hacking, which is a part of cyber security, get familiar with networking and modern Ops (operations).

You will know what to protect and what the bad actors are trying to exploit. Also learning Linux is a must if you choose that path.

I highly recommend to follow John Hammond, which is one of the best ethical hackers I know of:

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t understand half of the terms he is using in the videos. That’s not unusual at the start.

Best of luck!
