Can I learn how to code as a student?

Hi, I’m Louise.

I’m 14 years old and I’m still going to mandatory school. About a year ago, I started the Responsive Web Design curriculum out of boredom in school and interest, and finished that in about 6 weeks of holidays. I have a quite busy life and started the JavaScript course before switching to the Full Stack Developer course. I’m currently working on JavaScript. So here’s my problem: I’ve got the feeling I don’t really make progress due to my lack of time (I manage to do about 1h every evening), and I don’t know if I can finish it at such a slow pace. I searched for some advice on several forums, but it seems there are not many teenagers trying it. I would love to make some nice projects for me and my friends, and hopefully get a job in this field later.

Can someone maybe just give me some advice? Some motivation?

one hour per day every day is progress! slow and steady is a good pace. Consider there are challenges around like this one: #100DaysOfCode Challenge for 2024 – Discord Edition where people are challenged to code every day for one hour. it is a challenge for busy lives, so that people try to find some time to code every day

I’m a teenager and code! We all have busy schedules. An hour a day is great! Keep it up. And started to code at 14 is excellent. If you stick with it, you’ll have an awesome head start by the time you finish high school. Keep coding anything you find interesting, and don’t compare yourself too much to others. Build your own projects and be proud of them!
