hello, I was wondering how many projects should I add to my portfolio to land a job as a self-taught developer?
There is no magic number. There is no magic formula for getting hired.
I would want at least 3. And probably less than 10, at least that are the focus - you can have more in a “see more” link or something.
But also what is very important is quality.
I’d also consider complexity of the projects rather than just the number, as not all of them are made equal.
If you built 1 fancy full-stack app that is hosted somewhere that is of high quality, it should be better than a lot of simpler projects.
Of course more is better, but focusing on the number will usually ignore the concepts required to build them. If all your projects are front-end static web pages, you wont learn as much, or show you know as much as having a few or even just 1 project that integrates a number of different technologies, and parts of the stack.
Good luck, keep learning, keep building
