What would be the best way to go about getting someone to code an app for my startup?
Would I be better of learning myself?

Doing it yourself? That depends on how much time you have and how complicated the app is. Without that info, there is only so much we can tell you.

There are freelance sites like upwork and freelancer.

And there are guys here that do freelance work so you might get some offers here.

But to get any kind of a quote you’re going to have to describe (at least in general terms) what you need built, what the architecture is, and what your timeframe is.
