I've been wasting time with the courses

I just recently found out that that after many years of studying from this site that due to the constant changes to it’s curriculum I cannot longer consider what you offer as a reliable source for any kind of certification or authority for my CV. Thanks!

You can still access the old course content if you want those certificates. Though the certificates aren’t really compelling on a CV or resume.

Thanks for the info! Could you elaborate on why you say those certificates aren’t very compelling on a CV? Also, what types of certifications do you think carry more weight or are more sought after by employers in our industry?

depending on what kind of jobs you are applying there are industry standard certifications that could be useful, those usually are payed certifications from univeresally recognised organizations, like CompTIA or AWS certifications

the certifications offered by freeCodeCamp do not have the same rigorous standard, it’s much better if you consider them checkpoints in your learning and make sure you absorbe the information and use them to create projects to showcase what you can do and add those to your CV

I am a self taught and got my first job a few years back. None of my interviews asked about my freeCodeCamp certs. Or any certs. As mentioned earlier, most certs won’t be recognized by employers. Employers will look at degrees or maybe specific certs like AWS.

Employers only care about what you can do. That is why you should have a big project that took you months to build so you can talk about it in interviews.

The certs are more for personal motivation for campers so they can see their progress :+1:
