I am an aspiring web developer, currenly on an intership to get my web developer degree.
I wanted to ask what can i work on more.
Note im currently polishing my HTML + CSS skills(with the new full stack developer course), but i am quite low in javascript knowledge, but i will work on it next.
Here’s my personal portfolio i worked on (doesnt have much) :
Also learning github, so some css might not work…
It sounds like you already know that the thing you need to work on next is JavaScript.
Hi!
I think you should fix the menu to the top, because I have to scroll down the page to get back to the top. The “Learn More” button isn’t active yet, so I think you’re still working on the site.
Apart from that, I really like what you did.
I don’t have much experience, in fact I’m just starting out, so between what I say and what other more experienced people say, go with what they say. But I think you should focus on javascript.
yes, it seems inevitable lol
thank you! and yes im still working on it, im trying to learn github cause the css in other projects dont show, but yeah this is just the basics
Hi there! Very good work so far. Have a Suggestion to responsive your website layout also for small devices.
Hey @AlexK , here’s a few of my quick, first-impression, personal opinions/ideas/suggestions
-
Have links to your Github repos where you keep all the individual repositories for each project. If you don’t already, then get on that. So have a Github link on each project. Make each repo look nice with a well written README file.
-
It matters more what your code looks like than what the page looks like, but of course it should not be broken or have any concerning issues. Make sure your code doesn’t just work, but is clean and concise, follows standards, is easy to read, etc. etc.
-
Contrary to what I just said, the style could use some work - I’m not a designer either, but it shows initiative and resourcefulness, and overall can create a better feeling of professionalism and going above and beyond. Just copy something out there on the web that looks cutting-edge.
-
Personally I like your choice of using “Alexander the Dev”
-
You might want to change that ominous, menacing, hacker outline to be something a little friendlier, though
, unless that’s just a placeholder.
Yes i will defenetly implements this, and i have to learn good accessibility, and security as well
Currently fixed : css and images dont show in other pages, finally understood the path files and etc
thank you a lot for the feedback, i wll work on this for sure.
now the css colors, im still working on finding the best, currently they have a good level of contrast
Can you explain this? i didnt understand for what outline you were talking about.
I’m referring to your profile picture.
oh, well for now im using that, since i made it in canvas i can always improve it, do you have any knowledge in design?
You can just copy designs on other portfolios or websites that look good
Hi @AlexK
It looks like others have given you some advise about how to improve the look of the web page. Since the purpose of the webpage is to showcase your web developer skills maybe remove all the practice projects, which tens of thousands of other developers will already have on their portfolio pages.
Only include projects which showcase your best work. This way you can stand out. You’ll need to show just three or four high quality projects which each focusing on a different strength.
Happy coding
sorry for the late reply. but well, i wont put the practice projects directly from FCC, my goal is to remake them, without FCC instructions.
currenlty improved some stuff and added some js for dark theme
