My First Portfolio Website (Updated)

It’s been 4 months since I joined FCC. I have learned quite a lot and I thank the FCC team for their support, love, and kindness. I finally built my first portfolio website and I’ll love it if you guys give me feedback. Thanks in advance

Hi, looks really nice! :star_struck:

One thing: maybe you would make it so that I can go to the project page when I click on it’s picture, not only the link in the description?

Thanks a bunch for your reply. I’ll make sure I do that, it does sound like a necessary adjustment. Thanks once more!

Hi @Lafen !

This looks great! I just noticed that at narrower widths, the project containers don’t line up.

Perhaps they could be centered at this point?

Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your reply and your suggestion too. I’ll center the main div on smaller devices as you suggested. Thank you!

I wrapped the images in an anchor tag and the experience is way better now. Thank you!

Looks really nice, I used to work using Drupal like 3 years ago and learned the basics about coding using PHP, CSS and HTML, and now Im back trying to learn more, cause I didnt cover a lot of the basics and looking at your portfolio really inspired me  .

This looks very nice and works great at the default font size, but as soon as I increase the text size a few things start to break. Using Firefox, go to the View -> Zoom menu and activate ‘Zoom Text Only’. While holding down the Ctrl key, scroll your middle mouse button to increase the text size. I think you’ll see the issues rather quickly.

One thing I would recommend is that you base your CSS break points ‘em’ units instead of ‘px’. This will make your page responsive to both width changes and text size changes.

Nice tribute page to Martin Luther King Jr. What a guy.

Minor point, not coding realted - there is a typo on the last line of the tribute page.

Thank you @bbsmooth. That’s a brilliant point you get there. I didn’t even think about it. Thanks for the improvisation

@Lafen Hey!Its a great portfolio site. I have one suggestion:
You can add a GIF (with the home page of your projects)instead of images in your projects. This makes it look good and interactive!

You can also add a "Go to Top button in the event that the user clicks “1 unread”.This makes it easier for the user to navigate.
Happy Coding!

Yes, a very impressive site. Loved it! I also noticed the typo (misspelled ‘strength’). Small issue, but as everything else looks awesome, would be worth the quick fix.

Thanks for your reply. It’s fixed now

@cubicoder Thanks for your feedback and suggestion. I’ll definitely take it into consideration

Hi Lafen,

it looks great! Especially on mobile
I have just finished the documentation page project and I will start with the portfolio page this weekend. I feel even more inspired

Did you start with a mobile or a desktop version? How long did it take you to build it?

Hi @emabytes,

I am happy to know that you are making progress. Keep up the good work and enthusiasm.

Regarding your question, I started with the desktop version. It took me about 14 hours to get it done. I however spent most of the time retouching the design.
