Partnership designer/coder proposal

Hi!

I’m about to finish my Responsive Web Design Certification.
Everything is done but the last project wich is the portfolio project.
Along the learning path, I’ve noticed that design is my major weakness: I’ve learned several technics, but i just dont have the artistic talent.
So, i thought about doing a partnership with a learning designer who’s good at design but not that great at coding.
This way we could buil a team successful career as we learn and earn with each other!
I’m very open to discuss the partnership details.
I understand that this will need a lot of trust and matching personalaties for this to work, i guess it wont be easy :stuck_out_tongue: but i also guess that a good team could be a really rewarding experience!
Check my work here

Thanks!

I don’t really mind being your partner if it’s just design u need
but is the responcive web certifcation all u have?

Yes, responsive web certification is all I have and I’m now working at the JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures Certification
The partnership I’m thinking about would start when both parts are still in the learning path. I guess you are way ahead of me…
I’m not looking for real world work, as I think I’m not ready yet. But sometimes work knocks at my door. One of those times led me to do a production site with wordpress and its now online.
If still interested, keep asking
April 2021 update: the worpress site is no longer a worpress site. It has the same design but was made from scratch with HTML/CSS/JS.

After reading you’re response I am going to say no here’s why:
responsive web certification is all I have and I’m now working at the JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures Certification.
I don’t really mind you saying that but, this sounds like you are doubting yourself a lot in a bussines pruposal you need to value yourself and your skills. or you might get the rug pulled from under you.
The partnership I’m thinking about would start when both parts are still in the learning path. I guess you are way ahead of me…
if you are taking up real work then u shouldn’t undervalue urself or the price. I’m afraid ure going to do this. Reading all the replies I get allot of insecurity from your side.

But sometimes work knocks at my door
This means the work your getting is coming from the company’s which just want a cheap solution. Which means one of us has to do the negatiation. So far i’m not very convinced into your negatotiation skills.

First of all I want to thank you for your time giving me such a detailed answer. Your analizes gives me the oportunity to clarify what I’m looking for:
I’m not looking for business here, I’m looking for someone to walk the learning journey with me so we can in the future become a great team.
Building confidence is fundamental here, that’s why I talk about me the way I do, not with insecurity but with cristal clear honesty. I’m actually pretty secure about what I can and can’t do… that’s what led me to post this add!
I’m not selling my self, I’m not trying to look better than I am and a I’m not trying to convince anyone to do anything for me or buying anything from me.
Bottom line is that I’m looking for a team mate, not a client.
When the team is done and ready, we will then have the business approach and the negotiation speech will then make sense.
Thanks again and all the best to you

Fred, your idea of pairing up with a designer is, I think, a good one, and one I’ve had myself since I don’t like to do design. One idea is to go to an art community and try to find someone there who likes design but not coding. If they can design things in Photoshop or whatever and give it to you, then you can turn that into a website.

Thanks Cactus, thats a good idea.
I actually once tried to do that but I didnt find any designers comunity.
Do you know any?
You say you had this same idea, how did it go? Did you manage to find a designer?

Sorry, I don’t know of any art communities in particular, but I know there are places. Like maybe deviantart? Or perhaps your local universities/community colleges? Speaking for myself, my daughter is 11 and goes to an art school and she’s better at design than me! It might take some asking around for references–but I’m sure there are artists out there who are looking for future opportunities!

I have not done this, myself. Maybe someday…
