I want to become a blockchain dev. No prior experience. Right now I’m half through the Solidity, Blockchain, and Smart Contract Course – Beginner to Expert Python Tutorial by Patrick Collins.
Now he has posted the newer one, which includes JavaScript as a second to Solidity language.
Should I switch? The task is to break into the industry ASAP.
I’m not sure it’ll make much difference, if you’re halfway through the Python one then . The aim I assume is to understand how what you’re trying to learn (Ethereum/Blockchain concepts) fits together and works. So switching the secondary language halfway through isn’t likely to help a huge amount, unless there’s something specific you want to do in JS that can’t be done in Python.
What do you want to do with it? What you you aim to get out of this? What thing (industry, sector, type of application development etc) do you have in mind that you want to apply the knowledge to? These would give you more of a hint as to whether it’s more useful to use JS.
Just to be very clear here, there isn’t really, as things stand, much of a job market. There are jobs [though how stable or secure most of those are is ] but atm most (not all, but most) of them want experienced developers working a bit closer to a systems level
