Teach me how to code. Without coding the app won't exist

I am a beginner building a custom web app over the next 12–18 months, coding 8 hours a week. I plan on typing 100% of the code myself. I am looking for a mentor to act as a consultant—explaining software architecture, teaching me how the code should function, and reviewing my code. I do not want you to write any code for me; I just need hands-on conceptual training when I get stuck. I basically need to be taught, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js , and SQL, and possibly other coding stuff, that helps me make a dating app that functions like both, like eharmony, and simply plural, but is for non mono people only.

Go to https://www.freecodecamp.org/ and click on the “Get Started” button to learn web development for free.
When you get stuck, click on the help button on any of the challenges to get help here or visit the freecodecamp discord server to get help from other campers there.

If you are looking for a mentor you may try different social medias and even emailing people you like if you want.

Welcome to the forum @ClustersOfStars

A beginner coding for 8 hours a week for 12 to 18 months to build a custom web app may find it more beneficial to learn to code first, then apply what they learnt towards building their web app.

18 months is a long time to dedicate 8 hours a week for building a dating app from scratch. Not only will you need to problem solve, you will also need to learn to code, and how to solve problems using code.

freeCodeCamp is free, you can go through the course material at your own pace, and make side projects while you learn.

At the moment there are thousands of dating apps out there, with niche apps appearing every year. Most them were built by teams of skilled people. Doing it alone is one way. Maybe become a front-end developer, then build the UI. Ask friends to test the app, get their feedback. If there is enough interest, then learn back-end development, then build the server side.

This forum is like a mentor, where you can ask coding questions, ask for help on coding problems, and ask people to give feedback on your project.

Happy coding
