Best practices while coding?

Hello my fellow coder family. I have been taking the courses and have been enjoying them all thus far. I’ve had some questions arise up till now, and one is finding the best way to practice/retain all the information?
When working in the field, is there a layout of needs that necessary to complete the task as these are set up, or is it all done from scratch by us as coders? I ask this because, I can grasp what its asking of me in the lessons but not sure exactly how they came to the solutions to make it what it is. If that makes sense. I’m buying some books soon to dive a bit deeper into the code realm of things.
I also wanted to find out if anyone knows how I could find local coders near me? I’d love to discuss these things in person with another aspiring/or developed coder. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you and happy day!

Are you developing your own code before looking at the solutions? That’s certainly a best practice.

Are you asking if I figure out my own solutions in the lessons before looking them up? If so, yes I makes sure to do that every time. I usually don’t have to do research much, unless its something completely new for me.
