@sitek94 Congrats! Iāve always looked up your projects as a āhigh barā to achieve on FCC. You obviously really love to code.
Iām actually an architect by training, before I got into FCC. Do you think your architecture experience helped you with coding, or just with the design, or not at all?
Was that directed at me? I have written a few FCC posts with updates on starting the job. I was thinking about updating my āgetting a jobā article to talk about what it was like to switch jobs after a few years. I suppose āthings I learned on the first jobā could be a good addition too.
Thank you @kevinSmith , your advices are very helpful, I really appreciate it! And Iāll make sure to update the post with a timeline and additional information as you suggested.
As @miketandy already said - that would be really interesting and valuable to hear about your first months in new job. Getting a job is amazing so āAfter getting a jobā would be a perfect sequel
Thank you @egglearn! Here are some of the resources that I used:
Maybe not directly with the coding but definitely with the designs, sketching some layouts and general feeling if something looks nice. Itās also really helpful knowing how to use Photoshop and Illustrator. Generally I think that the time I spent studying architecture was well worth it and I donāt regret it
A million congrats on your first dev job, Maciek! I can tell you that youāve spend an unbelievable amount of time and effort after checking out your projects. Like man, theyāre all beautiful, sleek, and mobile responsive - I could probably spend all day exploring and still be amazed by it!
Hereās sincere wishing on all the best of your journey! Enjoy!
Congratulations!!
May I ask you a question?
I saw that you put your portfolio on GitHub pages, and provided the source code in the repositories.
How were you able to create different repositories for each item (like the tribute, form etc.) and show them ?
I have a GitHup pages site, but I canāt show on it projects that are in different repositoriesā¦
Thanks and good luck for your job!!
Thank you for sharing this!
Iāve been learning Front End since May 2020, and balancing work/study/family has been difficult! I only wish my GitHub was as green as yours!
Congratulations on landing your job!
This is my sign! Today i woke up with a little confusion if i should roll into a uni in computer science or should i just keep my previous career⦠You made my day mate! Iām really happy for you and i hope i will get there soon!!
thanks for sharing your path!
Hi sitek94,
Thanks for sharing your story and so many useful resources. Iām at the start of my coding journey (no technical background) and itās great to read so many pointers.
Congrats & good luck!
